Vaccine preventable disease rates are at their lowest level ever, however immunization coverage rates remain sub optimal. Educational outreach regarding current vaccines continues to be a priority of the public health nurses. A $10 office visit fee is charged per person per visit. A $10 administration fee is charged per injection for all vaccines. In addition, the cost for vaccines purchased by the health department is also charged to the client. No child is denied required vaccines due to inability to pay.
Adult Immunizations
Adult tetanus and tuberculin vaccine are provided by the Ohio Department of Health and the Crawford County Commissioners respectively. All other adult vaccines are purchased by the health department and the cost charged to the client. We will only accept Medicare Part B and Medicaid cards for payment for adult vaccines that these plans will cover.
Child/Adolescent Immunizations
We accept Medicaid and Medicaid Managed Care Plan cards for payment of childhood immunizations. No child is denied required vaccines due to inability to pay. We carry combination vaccines that can decrease the number of injections needed at a visit. Your child may be eligible for these combination vaccines if he/she requires all components included in the combination vaccine.
Flu Shot Clinics
The Crawford County General Health District obtains influenza vaccine from the Ohio Department of Health that can be used for clients in high risk groups only. The department also purchases additional influenza vaccine to provide flu shots to residents of Crawford County that wish to protect themselves from influenza and do not fall in the high risk groups. The department purchases Pneumococcal vaccine to provide to those who meet the criteria. We accept Medicare Part B and Medicaid cards for payment for these vaccines. All others are charged a fee based on the department’s cost to purchase and administer the vaccine.
